The Genius Files: Mission Unstoppable by Dan Gutman

First of all, I must say that Hatchet brought about an intriguing discussion in book club.  It was fun to hear all the different opinions and thoughts about Brian's survival story.  What a great book to ponder!  We all enjoyed Dan Gutman's visit SO much that we've decided to read his newest book, The Genius Files: Mission Unstoppable, which we know will prove to be an exciting adventure with Coke and Pepsi McDonald.  Although most of us have seen the book trailer, click below to view it again.  Our discussion will take place on Monday, March 7th during lunch.  Copies of the book are in the media center so please come see us if you still need a copy.  Happy Reading!

  1. Just curious what you are going to do for particular book activities. I am starting a Genius files club with 5th graders and was thinking of assigning them places to research that they went to along the way. I would love to correspond with you about this. I am starting tomorrow, Jan. 31st. Currently I am a first yr librarian, but have taught grades 1-3. Looking forward hearing from you.

  2. This was actually a pick for last year. (We have new blogs this year). However, what we did was we had the author visit the school and then we read the book and talked about the plot and the places that we have been that are quirky and could have been a "stop" in this story. Obviously, we don't always get the author to come for our book club picks but we always read the book and come together during lunch to discuss key elements and themes of the story. I bring a treat that ties in with the theme of the book. A google lit trip would be another great way to discuss this book.
